Duties will include but are not limited to the following:

  • Lead the IT department, overseeing network operations, IT support services, and ensuring all equipment (PCs, laptops, phones, Wi-Fi) is up to date and functioning efficiently.
  • Provide technical guidance to the Senior Network Engineer, ensuring minimal downtime for network-related issues.
  • Explore innovative network improvements and propose implementation approaches.
  • Oversee G Suite administration, ensuring optimal configuration, security, and compliance with company standards.
  • Supervise and assign tasks to a team of technicians, including cabling, ISP support, desktop support, and client liaison staff, ensuring timely task completion and adherence to standard procedures.
  • Maintain and optimise the VOIP platform, monitor system performance, and oversee secure backup processes aligned with business continuity plans.
  • Manage user accounts, permissions, and settings to maintain a seamless and secure workflow for employees.
  • Manage and schedule technicians for installations, site visits, and maintenance of data and node rooms, ensuring accurate reporting and prompt resolution of issues.
  • Manage stock levels for network equipment and handle procurement of new hardware when necessary.
  • Identify and implement improvements in IT processes, draft and review IT policies, and recommend technical solutions aligned with business needs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology or equivalent advantage

Experience and knowledge

  • Proven experience in similar role
  • Proven organisational and administration skills.
  • Experience in a commercial environment, including developing & implementing effective work processes, procedures and controls

Skills and attributes

  • Technical Proficiency: In-depth knowledge of IT systems, networks, and infrastructure
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.
  • Leadership Skills: Strong leadership and management capabilities to guide and motivate the support team.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills to interact with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Effective written and verbal communication for documentation and reporting.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Proactive approach to anticipate potential issues and implement preventive measures

Working hours are Mondays to Fridays from 08h00 to 17h00 with a 45 minute lunch break.  Due to the nature of the position, you will be required to be on call on a rotational basis.

We offer Barista produced coffee available all day to all our staff at Claremont.

With centrally located and modern offices just across from Cavendish in Claremont, we are offering a salary from R 80 000 cost to the company per month.
