The Faircape Group constitutes a group of companies with interests in a number of activities including Healthcare, Retirement Holdings, Telecommunications, Utility Management, infrastructure installation, Property Management and related activities.

We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Senior Utility Manager to oversee and  manage the utility water and electrical  utility services for approximately sixty clients and growing.

In this role, you will lead the transformation of utility operations to deliver exceptional customer experiences while enhancing operational efficiency and promoting environmental sustainability.

The utility division is undergoing  transformation to automate systems by using the latest technology to simplify the reading(remote) of meters.This information is manipulated by software to give accurate and meaningful results  to customers 

This division is involved in working with other professionals to use this information to reduce energy and water costs by employing the use of advanced metering technology.


Duties include but are not limited to the following:

  • Respond prompty: Address customer and internal email queries promptly, ensuring clear and accurate communication regarding consumption details, charges, special billing requests, and prepaid voucher requirements.
  • Smart Meter Expertise: Extract, analyze, and interpret consumption data from smart meters, providing actionable insights to support monthly billing, detailed investigations, and graphical reporting.
  • Municipal Account Management: Maintain accurate and up-to-date municipal invoice records, verify and reconcile charges, resolve billing queries efficiently, and ensure timely submissions of water meter readings to CoCT.
  • Prepaid System Oversight: Oversee meter registrations, generate accurate tokens, facilitate meter replacements, and produce critical system reports with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Financial Insights: Conduct monthly reconciliations, investigate and resolve discrepancies, contribute to budget forecasts, and ensure accurate and timely contract invoicing.
  • Streamlined Administration: Keep comprehensive and organized records, validate contracts, and confirm that all billing aligns seamlessly with agreements.
  • Vehicle Maintenance and Condition Monitoring: Regularly inspect and report on Utility vehicle conditions to ensure they are roadworthy, clean, and well-maintained. Coordinate timely servicing based on mileage or time intervals.
  • Employee Management and Scheduling: Oversee employee leave applications, ensure accurate timekeeping, manage overtime requests, and coordinate staffing to maintain operational efficiency.
  • Performance and Development: Conduct competency assessments, quaterly KPI reviews, and annual performance evaluations to support staff growth and ensure high performance standards.

Qualifications:

  • Matric
  • Financial qualification advantageous

 Experience and Knowledge:

  • Proven experience in the utility management field 
  • Knowledge of tariffs and their application  (advantageous)
  • Knowledge of metering methodology and systems  (advantageous)
  • Relevant experience in a similar role

We offer Barista produced coffee available all day to all our staff at Claremont.

Normal working hours are Mondays to Fridays from 08h00 until 17h00 with a 45 minute lunch break. The company allows employees, by approval of the direct manager, to work flexi time between 07h00 and 18h00.

With centrally located and modern offices just across from Cavendish in Claremont, Faircape offers a market-related salary from R 45 000 Cost to Company per month.
