Part-Time Dietician (Tokai Dietetics Practice)
Faircape Health Tokai Estate is a premier Sub-Acute Care and Rehabilitation Centre dedicated to providing restorative care and support for patients recovering from a wide range of medical conditions. Our facility offers specialised short-term, long-term, dementia, respite, and palliative care within a secure, compassionate, and nurturing environment.
Our world-class care bridges the gap between hospital and home. Guided by a skilled Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) of healthcare professionals, we ensure that every patient receives personalised treatment designed to promote healing, independence, and overall wellbeing.
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced part-time Dietitian to join our team at Tokai Estate. This role involves delivering professional dietetic services to both inpatients and outpatients within our healthcare centre, contributing to holistic recovery and quality of life.
Operating under Tokai Dietetics, based within Faircape Health, our dietetic services form an integral part of patient care across our rehabilitation centres. Patients are seen through referrals from doctors or members of the interdisciplinary team, ensuring a collaborative and outcomes-focused approach to nutrition and recovery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of new patient referrals for nutritional therapy by reviewing medical histories, current health status, dietary habits, lifestyle factors, and specific nutritional concerns to determine the most appropriate treatment approach.
- Develop and implement personalised treatment plans in collaboration with patients, families, and the multidisciplinary healthcare team, ensuring nutritional care aligns with the patient’s medical condition and recovery goals.
- Prepare detailed motivation letters to medical aid providers, providing clinical justification for the approval of oral nutritional supplements or feeds, and clearly outlining the patient’s nutritional requirements and medical necessity.
- Prescribe appropriate nutritional supplements or feeds as indicated by the treatment plan and medical condition.
- Monitor and evaluate patient progress through follow-up assessments, lab result reviews, and adjustments to care plans to ensure nutritional goals are achieved
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, providing expert nutritional input, contributing to care planning, and attending family meetings where guidance on nutritional management is required.
- Maintain accurate and timely records of assessments, prescriptions, and billing in line with healthcare regulations to support insurance claims and reimbursement.
- Prepare detailed discharge reports and nutritional guidelines, summarising patient progress and providing clear post-discharge care instructions to patients, families, and caregivers to ensure continuity of nutritional support.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Dietetics or equivalent qualification
- Registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Dietitian
- Professional malpractice insurance (current and valid)
Experience & Knowledge:
- Demonstrated competence in managing neurological, medical, and surgical patient care
- Strong proficiency in enteral feeding and nutritional support management
- Previous experience in an acute or sub-acute rehabilitation environment

Essential Requirements:
- Own transport and driver’s license
- Clear credit and criminal record
- Solid and positive written references
Working Hours:
Monday to Friday: 08:00 - 13:00 (on-site)
